Introduction



Our client is a key player in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Nigeria with a headquarters in Lagos and a presence in major cities in the country.



The desire for strategic growth and deeper market penetration has brought about the need for a National Sales Manager.



The preferred candidate must be emotionally mature, and a thorough professional in sales with years of verifiable practical field experience spanning technical function, managerial roles, multi-state oversight responsibilities.



Responsibility Summary:



The National Sales Manager will oversee the development and execution of sales strategies to expand market share, strengthen customer relationships, and drive revenue growth across the country. This role involves managing a team of regional sales managers, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and ensuring sales targets align with the company’s overall business goals.



Key Responsibilities:




  1. Strategic Sales Planning:


    • Develop and implement comprehensive national sales strategies to achieve revenue and market growth objectives.

    • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and threats.

    • Establish sales forecasts and budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals.



  2. Team Leadership:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage the national sales team, including regional sales managers and representatives.

    • Set performance objectives and monitor team performance against targets.

    • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the sales team.



  3. Customer Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, distributors, and retail partners.

    • Ensure consistent communication and support for customer needs.

    • Develop strategies for retaining customers and maximizing account value.



  4. Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new sales channels and partnership opportunities.

    • Collaborate with marketing and product development teams to introduce new products and promotions.

    • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.



  5. Operational Oversight:

    • Monitor sales data, performance metrics, and KPIs to evaluate team effectiveness and market penetration.

    • Prepare and present regular sales reports to senior management.

    • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.





Qualifications:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive sales experience, with at least 3 years in a national or senior management role in the FMCG or baking industry.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing market share.

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.

  • Proficiency in CRM software and sales reporting tools.
