MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES




  • The SRHR Advisor is in charge of providing technical supervision of the implementation of the mission’s SRHR and GBV activities. 

  • S/he ensures the operational roll-out of the intervention strategy, technical support, quality of treatment and relevance of SRH activities, practices, and information. 

  • S/he directly or indirectly leads/supervises teams (line management or operational management) (MdM and partners).

  • S/he will also oversee relevant GBV issues and develop/adjust specific interventions to address services and/or sector gaps and needs.  



ROLES:



Organization, coordination, and supervision of SRHR and GBV activities




  • Understand and document the national SRHR strategy Nigerian MdM mission

  • Carry out and update the mapping of the actors involved in the response to SRHR and GBV and develop a strong network in coordination with the local MdM team

  • Lead the definition and adaptation of the strategy for MdM’s prevention and response to SRHR and GBV in line with the context and MdM’s overall strategy on SRHR and GBV

  • Ensure the quality of GBV activities through regular monitoring and technical support to program teams and partners

  • Support MdM team and partners for implementation of SRHR activities in line with the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP)

  • Create and disseminate tools, guidelines and training and awareness-raising materials

  • Monitor and provide technical advice and recommendations in case of difficulty and/or to improve the quality of SRHR services (including GBV) and prevention interventions, in line with international and national guidelines and MdM's strategy

  • Ensure the development, implementation or update of tools for the management of SRHR/GBV activities: Standard Operating Procedures, tools for data collection, management and analysis, monitoring and technical guidance

  • Actively participate to coordination efforts with GBV actors (regional gender sub-cluster, protection cluster etc.), to facilitate information and good practices sharing and to ensure safe referrals of survivors based on updated and reliable referral pathway

  • In close collaboration with the Medical Coordinator, monitor local partnerships established with national NGOs and/or state actors and provide technical support to partners for the smooth implementation of GBV activities

  • Participate in the writing of projects/proposals for donors by ensuring that SRHR services including prevention and response to GBV are properly integrated

  • Manage the programme’s implementation quality, follow up the budget and project planning, in close collaboration with the Deputy General Coordinator and the Medical Coordinator.



Capacity building & Training




  • Identify the capacity building needs of MdM team and partners and propose relevant training opportunities

  • Diffuse and adapt training manuals on SRHR/GBV prevention and response 

  • Organise and/or facilitate training on SRHR and GBV prevention and response, in collaboration with the programme team and the medical and MHPSS teams

  • Ensure the quality of the trainings provided and that they use a methodology adapted to adult training and to the sociocultural context

  • Provide technical support to MdM Program Managers and staff and partners’ staff involved in monitoring and implementation of SRHR and GBV activities

  • Collaborate with the programme team (e.g.  Medical Coordinator, MHPSS team), to set up a capacity building plan (including training and on the job support) to all frontline staffs involved in the provision of SRHR services 

  • Organize training and mentoring of the national MdM SRHR officer.



Communication, advocacy, and representation 




  • Participate in the development of external and internal communication strategy and tools on MdM’s SRHR/GBV package 

  • Participate in the dissemination of MdM's approach, results and lessons learnt on SRHR, including on the prevention of and response to GBV 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the advocacy strategy following the specific features of the context, in collaboration with the advocacy advisor and referent at HQ level, with the Medical Coordinator and with other actors involved in the response to SRHR/GBV

  • Represent MdM at thematic workshops, conferences, and strategic meetings, in the country and internationally.



Reporting, information management and internal coordination




  • Ensure that SRHR/GBV data are collected, encoded and analysed

  • Make sure that the GBV data management system is in place (that it complies with the ethical standards applicable, data collection tools are mastered and correctly used, and the indicators are well monitored by the program teams) 

  • Contribute to the capitalization of MdM's response in Nigerian

  • Share with the Programme/Medical team any difficulties met in the field and propose solutions or adjustments 

  • Share with the Medical Coordinator/ Deputy General Coordinator the minutes of all clusters/working groups

  • Participate to internal MdM meetings and contribute to MdM monthly sitreps.

  • Contribute to the preparation of new proposals and reports to donors



The list of tasks is not intended to be exhaustive and other tasks may be requested by the line supervisor. In addition, a certain degree of flexibility and adaptability is expected from the collaborator according to the potential evolution of the mission's constraints.



CONDITIONS OF THE JOB




  • Position based in Abuja, with regular travels on the field (including Borno and Katsina and new locations)



SKILLS REQUIRED



Training & Experience




  • Medical doctor/nurse with SRH experience, midwife, gynaecologist-obstetrician (preferred) with demonstrated skills and knowledge on GBV and SRHR issues

  • Training and proven knowledge of GBV and Clinical Management of Rape

  • Demonstrated professional experience of 3 to 5 years in the humanitarian field, including at least 1 INGO

  • Experience in technical support to partners, advocacy, and network facilitation.



Technical Skills 




  • Excellent knowledge of international standards and guidelines on SHRH and prevention and response to GBV in humanitarian contexts 

  • Ability to plan for prevention and response to GBV

  • Ability to analyse the context, trends, and risk/protection factors

  • Map services and coordinate with stakeholders

  • Understand activity follow-up indicators 

  • Identify training needs, create and lead SRHR/GBV training modules

  • Develop a safe and confidential referral circuit

  • Analyse and manage sensitive data

  • Strong flexibility and ability to plan and adapt to unforeseen events

  • Use project management tools

  • Strong ability to lead a team of direct and indirect co-workers, including partners, and to mobilize skills in a multicultural environment.



IT




  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office (word, excel, PowerPoint...)



Langages        




  • English is mandatory (oral and written)

  • Knowledge of any other local language is an asset Hausa, Kanuri…
