Job Description
Job Purpose:
- To perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of building structures, infrastructures, and estates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and design building structures in compliance with construction and government standards, using design software and drawing tools.
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Hold direct responsibility for construction operations and building maintenance of structures at the project site.
- Participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations for guiding construction.
- Contribute to the development of work programs for housing projects to enhance their viability analysis.
- Estimate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, or labor to assess project feasibility.
- Participate in the process of testing soils and materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel.
- Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, and program modifications or structural repairs to industrial and managerial personnel.
- Conduct studies on traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential impacts.
- Undertake technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.
- Liaise with clients and various professionals, including architects and subcontractors.
- Resolve design and development challenges.
- Ensure the project complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety regulations.
- Assess the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
- Ensure projects run smoothly, structures are completed within budget, and timelines are met.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
Qualifications / Person Specification:
- At least a B.Eng/HND in Civil Engineering.
- Must be registered with COREN with a current SEAL.
- A minimum of 5 years working experience in the Real Estate/Infrastructure industry.
- Extensive experience in adopting Green and SMART Technology in Estate and Infrastructural Construction.
- Professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of current industry standards and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
