Key Responsibilities

Promoter Management & Performance Supervision:




  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of sales promoters and merchandisers across key retail and trade locations.

  • Develop and implement sales pitch strategies for promoters to maximize product sales.

  • Monitor and evaluate promoter performance through KPIs such as sales volume, foot traffic engagement, and conversion rates.

  • Ensure promoters are properly trained on product features, sales techniques, and customer engagement strategies.



Market & Trade Channel Visibility:




  • Oversee merchandising activities, product displays, and point-of-sale branding to ensure strong in-store visibility.

  • Ensure brand compliance in modern trade outlets, including correct shelf positioning and planogram execution.

  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to deploy and manage promotional campaigns, in-store activations, and product demonstrations.



Trade Marketing Execution:




  • Plan and execute in-store promotions, activations, and roadshows to drive consumer engagement.

  • Work closely with retailers and trade partners to negotiate prime positioning for promotional campaigns.

  • Monitor and analyze the impact of promotional activities to optimize future campaigns.



Retail & Distributor Engagement:




  • Build and maintain strong relationships with modern trade retailers, general trade distributors, and key accounts to enhance brand loyalty.

  • Provide market intelligence reports on competitor activities, pricing trends, and customer feedback.

  • Ensure sales promoters effectively communicate product benefits to customers, leading to increased sales and brand preference.



Inventory & Sales Operations Support:




  • Ensure adequate stock availability in assigned retail locations to prevent stockouts.

  • Work with sales and supply chain teams to track inventory movement and sales trends.

  • Identify fast-moving and slow-moving products and provide recommendations to improve sales.



Qualifications & Experience




  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Marketing, Business Administration, Sales, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in sales promotion, trade marketing, or retail sales within the consumer electronics or FMCG industry.

  • Previous experience in managing sales promoters, merchandisers, or field sales teams is required.

  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian modern trade and general trade landscape.

  • Experience in executing in-store activations, product demonstrations, and retail branding initiatives.



Required Skills & Competencies:

Sales & Promotional Expertise:




  • Ability to drive sales performance through effective promoter engagement and in-store execution.

  • Proven experience in executing trade promotions, in-store activations, and product launch campaigns.

  • Strong negotiation skills to secure brand positioning, in-store visibility, and promotional deals.



Leadership & Team Management:




  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team of sales promoters and merchandisers.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with retailers, sales teams, and trade partners.

  • Experience in setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement.



Trade Marketing & Market Intelligence:




  • Strong understanding of trade marketing principles, customer engagement strategies, and in-store sales conversion techniques.

  • Ability to analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer buying behavior.

  • Proficiency in using Excel, CRM tools, and reporting software for sales tracking and performance analysis.



Problem-Solving & Adaptability:




  • Ability to resolve issues related to low promoter performance, stock shortages, and retail space negotiations.

  • Strong adaptability to market changes, competitor activities, and evolving consumer preferences.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple store locations and teams efficiently.



KPIs & Performance Metrics:




  • Sales Conversion Rate: Percentage of customers engaged by promoters who make a purchase.

  • Product Visibility Score: Execution of planograms, branding materials, and display compliance in retail stores.

  • Promoter Productivity: Sales performance per promoter, including customer engagement and upselling success.

  • Retailer & Distributor Satisfaction: Positive feedback from trade partners and improved store-level support.

  • Promotional Campaign Impact: Success of activations measured through sales uplift, customer participation, and brand recall.
