Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Nigerian GAAP and company policies.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks, providing insightful commentary to management.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to relevant stakeholders including regulatory bodies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets for various departments within the pharmaceutical company.
- Conduct regular budget reviews and forecasts to identify areas for cost optimization and potential revenue growth.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment with budget targets.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with relevant Nigerian accounting standards, tax regulations, and pharmaceutical industry guidelines.
- Monitor financial transactions and identify potential areas of fraud or non-compliance.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making, including pricing strategies, product portfolio optimization, and investment opportunities.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management on key business initiatives.
Team Management:
- Lead and supervise a team of accounting professionals, including day-to-day tasks, performance management, and staff development.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Tax Management:
- Oversee the tax compliance process, including preparation and filing of corporate tax returns in accordance with Nigerian tax regulations.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors on complex tax matters.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional accounting certification (ICAN, ACCA)
- Extensive experience in financial management within a pharmaceutical company or related industry in Nigeria
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey financial information to stakeholders
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems
- Understanding of Nigerian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
- Leadership skills to manage a team of finance professionals.
