Job Summary




  • Inventory Control Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring proper stock valuation, and reconciling inventory accounts.

  • They play a crucial role in tracking inventory movements, preventing discrepancies, and supporting financial reporting.



Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Reconciliation:




  • Monitor inventory transactions, including purchases, sales, transfers, and adjustments.

  • Perform regular inventory reconciliations between physical stock and accounting records.

  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.



Stock Valuation & Costing:




  • Maintain accurate inventory costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average, etc.).

  • Ensure proper valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.

  • Assist in periodic cost analysis and adjustments.



Financial Reporting & Compliance:




  • Prepare inventory-related reports for financial statements.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

  • Support audits by providing necessary inventory records and reports.



Process Improvement & Internal Controls:




  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to reduce losses and inefficiencies.

  • Collaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to enhance inventory accuracy.

  • Monitor inventory turnover rates and recommend improvements.



Software & System Management:




  • Utilize ERP or inventory management systems for tracking and reporting.

  • Assist in system updates and integration for better inventory control.



Key Skills & Qualifications




  • Educational Qualification: Minimum of OND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience: 2+ years in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or related roles.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze stock trends and resolve discrepancies.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring inventory records are accurate and compliant.

  • Languages: Must be fluent in English and Igbo
