The Audit & Risk Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices.
This role involves conducting audits, assessing risks, and implementing compliance frameworks to safeguard the company’s financial and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct periodic audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures.
Identify gaps, risks, and areas of improvement in the company’s financial and operational processes.
Ensure that loan disbursement, repayment, and collections adhere to internal policies and external regulations.
Develop and implement corrective action plans for process deficiencies.
Identify, analyze, and mitigate risks related to financial transactions, lending operations, and customer interactions.
Develop and maintain the company’s risk register and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor key risk indicators and report findings to management.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial and regulatory laws (CBN guidelines, AML/CFT laws, Data Protection Laws, etc.).
Stay updated on regulatory changes and recommend necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
Assist in preparing for external audits and regulatory inspections.
Monitor transactions for suspicious activities and report potential fraud cases.
Investigate compliance breaches, fraud, or misconduct and recommend corrective actions.
Work closely with the IT and security teams to strengthen cybersecurity and data protection measures.
Develop and update risk and compliance policies in line with industry standards.
Conduct training sessions for employees on risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
Foster a culture of compliance and risk awareness across the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in audit, risk management, or compliance within a financial institution or loan company.
Strong knowledge of CBN regulations, AML laws, and lending compliance standards.
Experience conducting internal audits, risk assessments, and fraud investigations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
Proficiency in audit tools, risk management software, and financial reporting systems.
Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAN, CISA, or CRMA (added advantage).
