  • The Inventory Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring optimal stock levels, and managing the movement of steel products within the company's warehouse and retail locations. 

  • This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of inventory management principles.

  • The Inventory Officer will play a crucial role in minimizing stock discrepancies, preventing losses, and supporting efficient order fulfillment.



Responsibilities




  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.

  • Monitor stock levels and generate reports on inventory status, including slow-moving and obsolete inventory.

  • Implement and maintain proper inventory storage and handling procedures to prevent damage and ensure product quality.

  • Track and manage inventory transfers between warehouse and retail locations.

  • Oversee the receiving process, ensuring that incoming shipments are accurately counted, inspected for damage, and recorded in the inventory system.

  • Ensure that all receiving and dispatching activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations.

  • Generate regular inventory reports, including stock level reports, discrepancy reports, and inventory valuation reports.

  • Prepare and submit reports on inventory performance to management.

  • Document and maintain records of all safety inspections related to inventory storage and handling.

  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding inventory-related matters.

  • Address and resolve inventory discrepancies and issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies related to inventory storage and handling.

  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to management.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and standards.



Requirements




  • Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in inventory management, preferably in a wholesale or retail environment, and ideally within the steel industry or a similar heavy materials sector.

  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.

  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and ERP systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy items.

  • Knowledge of steel product types and specifications is a strong advantage.
