Job Summary:
Welcome2Africa International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Controller to join our dynamic team. As a key member of the leadership team, the Finance Controller will oversee all financial operations and ensure the company’s financial health across its strategic focus areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, strategic planning, and compliance, with a passion for driving sustainable economic growth and development in Africa.
The Finance Controller will play a critical role in supporting investors and stakeholders by providing accurate financial insights, implementing robust financial controls, and ensuring transparency in reporting. This role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution to help us achieve our mission of fostering sustainable trade and investment opportunities within and across Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international accounting standards.
- Provide timely and insightful financial analysis to support decision making across the organization.
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models to align with the company’s strategic objectives.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Establish and enforce internal financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor adherence to local and international tax laws, audit requirements, and other financial regulations.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure smooth processes and accurate reporting.
Cash Flow Management:
- Manage cash flow projections and optimize working capital to ensure liquidity for operational needs.
- Oversee treasury functions, including banking relationships, foreign exchange risk management, and funding strategies.
Investor Relations & Stakeholder Support:
- Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for investors, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to provide tailored financial advice that supports trade and investment objectives.
Strategic Planning & Growth Initiatives:
- Contribute to the development of long term business strategies aligned with the company’s mission of driving sustainable economic growth in Africa.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and process improvements.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing finance team to deliver exceptional results.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree will also be of an added advantage.
- The candidate should possess an ICAN certification
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within trade, investment, or related industries.
- Experience in sectors like Agriculture, Maritime, Solid Minerals, or Renewable Energy is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in advanced financial software and ERP systems.
- Flexible to work overtime and weekends when necessary, very available and responsive
