Job Summary
- The accountant will be responsible for preparing balance sheets, profit and loss financial statements, and analysing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Review organisations’ finance processes and policies and make necessary recommendations.
- Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain records of the organisation’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities.
- Prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
- Develop, maintain, and analyse budgets, preparing periodic reports comparing budgeted and actual costs.
- Provide financial review and financial consulting services to SMEs.
- Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
- Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel, and direct their work activities.
- Manage database of local and international financing partners so that we can help clients raise financing from non-bank sources.
- Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
- Work as an Internal Revenue Service agent and work with external auditors and government agency tax collectors.
- Acts as a representative of the organisation in relation to external bodies on financial matters
- Invoice Management- Evaluate purchase invoices and ensure payment is made.
- Assist with the financial sections of business plans.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc / HND Accounting or Finance, relevant professional certification is an added advantage.
- 2-3 years of cognate experience.
Functional Competencies / Requirements:
- Ability to use Wave Accounting Software and others.
- Attentiveness to details and ability to multi-task
- Business consulting and advisory experience
