Job Summary
- We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant to oversee financial aspects of projects from initiation through completion.
- This role ensures accurate project cost tracking, revenue recognition, budgeting, and compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
- The Senior Project Accountant will serve as a key liaison between project managers, finance, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Monitor project expenditures and investigate variances to budget and forecast.
- Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to review and analyze project financial performance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end project financial reports and metrics.
- Coordinate billing, invoicing, and collections in alignment with project milestones and contracts.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Support external and internal audits with relevant documentation and analysis.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives in project accounting processes and tools.
- Mentor junior accountants and provide training as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (ICAN and/or ACCA is a must).
- 10+ years of accounting experience with in the Oil and Gas Industry focus on project accounting.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and project-based financial management.
- Strong proficiency in ERP/accounting systems.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial modeling and analysis.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Oil & Gas industries.
- Familiarity with project management tools and cost control software.
- Prior involvement in audit support or compliance reporting.
