Job Summary
- The ESG Manager will lead and oversee the implementation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives for the company’s projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations.
- This role will involve managing key aspects such as the implementation of ESMPs, stakeholder engagement, grievance mechanisms, and overseeing the Livelihood Restoration and Resettlement Action Plans.
Responsibilities
Operational & Functional Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of the IFC Compliant ESMPs and all related mitigation measures.
- Lead the execution and implementation of the Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the SEZ.
- Participate in all internal and external environment and social related audits for the SEZ.
- Ensure compliance of all construction contractors with environmental and social (E&S) requirements for contractors.
- Support industry teams and clients via short-term consultancy services on E&S risk management, ESIAs, ESMP reviews, particularly waste management plans to ensure alignment with corporate standards.
- Consolidate, monitor, and report a monthly ESG KPI report for all
- Develop, implement, and manage ESG initiatives to ensure that business practices, products, and services are environmentally friendly and compliant with government rules and regulations.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to develop strategies and implement programs that promote environmental protection, social responsibility, governance, risk management, monitoring, and reporting.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- Advanced degree (Masters) in environmental science, engineering, sociology, or other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum of two years professional experience working in E&S management, monitoring, and/or due diligence.
- Familiarity with performing ESIAs compliant with both National and International standards.
- Advantageous to have a working knowledge of the IFC Sustainability Framework, including Performance Standards 1-8, related Guidance Notes, and EHS Guidelines.
- Familiar with Grievance Mechanisms, its implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Knowledge of national and international laws on environmental protection and other relevant laws pertaining to ESIA procedures in the Country.
- High personal integrity and emotional intelligence, with the ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly, respond diplomatically, and remain calm under pressure.
- Exemplary project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in English and French is a must.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically, analyze and summarize diverse sources, draw conclusions from limited data, and develop solutions in potentially tense or conflicting situations.
