- We are seeking a detail-oriented and fast-typing Medical Typist to assist with transcribing medical reports, patient records, and other healthcare documents accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate must have a strong knowledge of medical terminology, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe and type medical reports, clinical notes, discharge summaries, and other healthcare documents from audio recordings or handwritten notes.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical documents by cross-referencing information with physicians and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain electronic and paper records following hospital/clinic policies and regulatory standards.
- Review and proofread medical reports for spelling, grammar, and formatting errors.
- Work efficiently with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and other healthcare databases.
- Handle confidential patient information with discretion and comply with local data protection laws.
- Liaise with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to clarify unclear recordings or notes.
- Meet tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy in transcription.
Qualifications
- First degree in any discipline from a reputable institution
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical typing, transcription, or a related role.
- Ideal candidate must be able to type at least 50 words per minute (WPM) with high accuracy.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software.
- Excellent listening and comprehension skills to interpret medical dictations.
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling patient data.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with medical teams.
- Proximity to Alimosho axis will be an added advantage
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Medical Transcription or Medical Administration is an added advantage.
- Experience in hospital, clinic, or laboratory settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with speech recognition software and dictation systems is a plus.
