Job Description
What you will do:
- Represent the NRC to all appropriate authorities and in all official work in Borno and Adamawa States, Nigeria
- Coordinate all area level programme and operational activities
- Lead the area grants management (GOM, GR and GEM) with the coordination and technical support of the GM
- Ensure legally binding financial contracts and payments at area level are made as per the threshold limit stipulated on the authorization table
- Ensure quality documentation of all NRC activities at area level
- Undertake Official correspondence at area level
- Through close monitoring of the context, develop approaches and activities ensuring promotion of the Do No Harm principle
- Feed into the design of, and oversee the management of, all future merger and change management processes in the area
- Establish a good working environment based on the NRC values
- Conduct regular field missions to monitor project implementation
- Identify, initiate and follow up on advocacy issues at area level in close coordination with the Country Management Group and Country Director
- Ensure support functions are managed according to NRC policies
- In collaboration with the HSS Manager, ensure that the Security Plan for the area is updated regularly
- Report to the Country Director any violations of NRC’s Personnel policies and Code of Conduct, and support investigations into violations as requested/tasked by the CD or Global Integrity Department
- Ensure that NRC staff adheres to NRC´s security rules and guidelines
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior management level position in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Technical expertise in humanitarian programmes and support operation is required, experience with successful advocacy and fundraising an advantage.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge on own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is required. Knowledge of Hausa is an advantage.
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of the context in Nigeria or West Africa (Lake Chad crisis)
- Experience with partnerships.
