Job Description
Job Purpose
- The Shift Engineer – Instrument at EPPL Factory is responsible for ensuring the effective functioning, calibration, and maintenance of all instrumentation and control systems throughout the factory.
- This role involves executing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on instruments to guarantee smooth and uninterrupted plant operations while upholding safety, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
Principal Accountabilties
- Timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance of sensors, transmitters, PLCs, HMIs, and control loops.
- Rapid diagnosis and resolution of instrument-related faults during shifts to reduce machine downtime.
- Routine calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments to maintain process accuracy.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibrations, and faults attended. Submit shift-end reports.
- Ensure all instrumentation work complies with internal safety procedures and industry standards.
- Use PPE and follow LOTO.
- Coordinate with the electrical, mechanical, and operations teams to ensure smooth plant functioning.
- Provide assistance during shutdowns and startups.

- Internal Interaction: Production Team, Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Teams, Utility Section, Shift In-charge.
Skills and Knowledge
Education Qualification:
- HND / B.Sc. in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical/Electronics, or a related field with 4 - 7 years work experience.
- Certification in PLC/DCS systems (added advantage).
Technical and Behavioral Skills:
- Good understanding of industrial instrumentation, control loops, and automation systems.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, transmitters, sensors, and actuators.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret instrument loop diagrams and P&IDs.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
- Safety-conscious and adaptable to shift work.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to high temperatures, noise, rotating equipment, and process chemicals.
- Work in control rooms, on elevated platforms, and in confined spaces may be required.
