Summary
- The Shipping Officer is responsible for executing daily shipping operations in line with the company’s logistics strategy.
- This includes preparing shipping documents, coordinating with transport providers and terminal staff, monitoring shipment status, and supporting compliance with internal policies and shipping regulations.
- The role requires attention to detail, organization, and the ability to follow instructions while supporting seamless shipping processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing the company’s shipping plans and procedures.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation including labels, barcodes, invoices, and bills of lading.
- Coordinate with terminals, warehouse staff, and transport personnel to ensure timely loading and dispatch of shipments.
- Track shipments and update relevant parties on shipment status and location.
- Handle communication with internal departments and external vendors regarding shipment details.
- Identify and promptly report delays, issues, or discrepancies in the shipping process to the Shipping Manager.
- Maintain organized records of all shipping transactions.
- Use shipping and logistics software to record data and print necessary documentation.
- Ensure proper handling and packaging of goods before dispatch.
- Support inventory checks related to shipping schedules.
- Follow up with receiving teams to confirm deliveries and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory shipping standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping Manager or other superiors.
Expected Attributes
- Interested candidates should possess an HND / OND / Bachelor's Degree with 0 - 5 years work experience in a related field.
- Good understanding of shipping, freight forwarding, and logistics processes.
- Familiarity with customs procedures and shipping documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of logistics software and Microsoft Office tools.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
