Job Responsibilities




  • Source and acquire goods and services essential for oil and gas operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with quality standards and regulations specific to the Nigerian oil and gas sector and Port Harcourt terrain.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with operational needs, including managing purchase orders, contracts, and vendor negotiations to secure favorable terms and prices.

  • Collaborate closely with supply chain, production, and engineering teams to translate forecast plans into production schedules, maintain optimal inventory levels, and minimize material shortages, especially considering the local logistical challenges of Port Harcourt.

  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, maintain updated supplier lists, and ensure timely delivery of materials, adapting to the unique supply chain and terrain conditions in Port Harcourt.

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase histories, contracts, and inventory data, ensuring transparency and audit readiness.

  • Conduct market research and vendor evaluations to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance with industry standards such as ISO.

  • Ensure adherence to safety, health, environmental policies, and legal procurement regulations relevant to the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.

  • Manage risks related to supply chain disruptions by developing contingency plans tailored to the operational environment of Port Harcourt.

  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to team members, contributing to continuous improvement and effective change management within the procurement function.



Required Knowledge and Experience




  • 2-6 years of procurement experience, preferably within the oil and gas industry and exposure within the downstream processes and servicing operations will be an added advantage.

  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian oil and gas procurement landscape and familiarity with the Port Harcourt terrain and its logistical implications.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems such as Oracle, alongside Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills to secure the best deals and maintain supplier relationships.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to assess market trends, supplier performance, and procurement risks.

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple procurement activities and maintain accurate records.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in a dynamic and often challenging environment.

  • Knowledge of procurement policies, compliance standards, and ethical sourcing practices relevant to the oil and gas sector.

  • Familiarity with safety, health, and environmental regulations applicable to procurement in oil and gas servicing.
