Purpose / Project Description
- The Driver is responsible for safely transporting staff, visitors, and goods in support of the organization’s operations.
- The role ensures vehicle maintenance, compliance with security protocols, and adherence to organizational policies, thereby contributing to the effective implementation of program activities.
Individual / Firm Activities & Deliverables:
- The scope of work for the Driver should cover but not limited to the following services:
Key Responsibilities
Transportation and Logistics:
- Safely drive staff, partners, and visitors to and from designated locations as required.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of staff for official duties.
- Transport goods, documents, and other items as instructed.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-fueled, and properly always maintained.
- Schedule regular service and maintenance in coordination with the Logistics or Admin team.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate vehicle logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, trip records, and servicing.
- Complete and submit vehicle incident or accident reports as needed.
- Ensure all necessary documents (e.g., insurance, registration) are up to date and available in the vehicle.
Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all road traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Adhere strictly to the organization’s vehicle usage policy.
- Ensure passengers wear seat belts and safety measures are always in place.
- Cooperate with security personnel and follow security protocols, especially in high-risk areas.
Support for Field Activities:
- Assist with loading and unloading project materials.
- Support field teams with logistics-related errands when necessary.
- Provide basic support during field missions (e.g., arranging accommodation, minor purchases).
Emergency Preparedness:
- Be available during emergency response operations.
- Ensure the vehicle is equipped with a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, spare tire, and emergency tools.
- Be willing to support Operation Assistant as may be required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of secondary school education (SSCE or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO or development organization.
- Must Be an indigene of Katsina state Based in Katsina state capital.
- Valid national driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Good knowledge of road networks and travel routes around assignment.
- Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
