Job Summary




  • The Petroleum Laboratory Manager is responsible for leading and managing all lab activities related to testing petroleum and petrochemical products. 

  • This includes making sure tests are accurate, staff follow safety rules, equipment works properly, and all operations meet quality standards.



Key Responsibilities




  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

  • Make sure all tests follow industry standards (ASTM, IP, ISO).

  • Supervise and support lab staff with training, guidance, and performance reviews.

  • Check and approve test results before they are sent to clients.

  • Ensure quality control procedures are followed.

  • Help solve technical problems during testing.

  • Oversee the use, maintenance, and repair of lab equipment.

  • Make sure the lab follows all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Keep accurate records of tests and lab activities.

  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Manage lab supplies and order new items when needed.

  • Work with other departments to solve issues and improve processes.

  • Take part in audits, inspections, and staff meetings.

  • Train staff on new methods and safety procedures.



Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field

  • 5–10 years of experience in a petroleum testing lab, with 3+ years in a leadership role

  • Knowledge of ASTM, IP, and ISO testing methods

  • Experience managing teams and lab operations

  • Familiarity with LIMS or other lab software is a plus

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
