Job Description




  • Provide technical leadership to strengthen the supply chain management of health commodities to reduce/eliminate stock-outs and eliminate wastages while maintaining high standards of practice across all supported sites.

  • Analyze the supply chain data and assess the potential risks to program implementation.

  • Develop an efficient system for cold and dry storage of health commodities based on good storage and evidence-informed principles, in keeping with good quality assurance standards.

  • Directs outgoing or incoming health commodities distribution activities, ensuring efficiency in distribution.

  • Provides technical guidance on drug dispensing processes, documentation, and optimal pharmacovigilance.

  • Ensures health facilities submit electronic reports of pharmacy and laboratory logistics data.

  • Analyzes and compares commodity utilization reports, including CRRF reports to ensure all commodities are accounted for.

  • Reviews and follows up on the last mile distribution (LMD) reports from PEPFAR-supported sites and participates in pre/post-LMD review meetings, and LMCU-led TWG, and iPSMTWG meetings.

  • Shares post-distribution gap analysis (PDGA) with the management and relevant partners and ensures prompt resolutions if the gap poses a threat to effective program implementation.

  • Conduct supply chain risk assessment and management plan.

  • Conduct periodic visits to facility warehouses/storage facilities to identify warehouses/stores related matters such as the environment, sterilization, refrigeration etc. and generate reports to management and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor safety standards in accordance with regulations; ensure safety code and quality compliance are met daily.

  • Analyzes and shares stock information including expiry dates with the clinical team to guide program implementation and prevent wastages.

  • Liaises with relevant partners to conduct waste drive exercises with appropriate documentation in the expired/damaged commodity logbook.

  • Support the development of supply chain training materials and technical manuals.

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.



Minimum Required Qualifications




  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Scientist (B.MLS) or similar Degree

  • BSc/BA in Microbiology, Health Sciences, public health, or similar degree

  • M.Sc./MPH in Public Health or PhD or related degrees is an added advantage.

  • 3 years post-qualification experience in pharmacy or laboratory logistics management of USAID or PEPFAR-supported programs in Nigeria.

  • Knowledge of health and development programs in Nigeria, including government and non-government settings.

  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the social, political, and ethical issues surrounding HIV infections.

  • Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, subcontractors, consultants, and recipients of assistance.

  • Ability to represent ECEWS to donors, government officials, and the NGO community.

  • Ability to work independently, manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.

  • A high degree of proficiency in written and spoken English communication, including presentation and training skills.

  • Proven ability in supervising staff.

  • Well-developed computer skills.
