About the job
- Site Management: Oversee daily construction activities at filling station sites and small civil projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, timelines, and specifications.
- Project Coordination: Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets using Microsoft Project; coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure resource availability and timely delivery.
- Quality and Safety Compliance: Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate safety hazards, ensuring compliance with Nigerian safety regulations (e.g., DPR guidelines for filling stations) and environmental standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate records of site activities, employee attendance, and progress reports; integrate cost and resource data from SAP for stakeholder reporting.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between site teams, project managers, clients, and regulatory bodies (e.g., Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation for fuel station projects); provide regular updates and resolve issues promptly.
- Problem-Solving: Address on-site challenges, such as material delays or technical issues, and escalate complex problems to senior management when necessary.
- Team Supervision: Manage and instruct construction teams, including laborers and subcontractors, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed efficiently; implement disciplinary measures as needed.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards specific to filling stations and small civil projects in Nigeria.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in civil construction, site supervision, or project coordination, preferably with exposure to filling station construction or small infrastructure projects in Nigeria.
- Certifications (preferred but not always required):
- IPMA Level C (Certified Project Manager) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Foundation/CAPM (Certified associate in project management), demonstrating competence in managing projects with limited complexity.
- OSHA safety certifications or equivalent for site safety compliance.
- Industry-specific certifications (e.g., Nigerian Society of Engineers or COREN registration for Nigeria-based roles).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, SAP, or similar project management and ERP software for scheduling and cost tracking.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, or other design/scheduling tools for interpreting blueprints and project plans.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to lead diverse teams, work under pressure, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
