Responsibilties
Strategic & Business Leadership:
- Develop and execute the transport unit’s strategic and operational plans
- Drive revenue growth and profitability targets
- Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and route expansions
- Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily transport operations and fleet deployment
- Ensure optimal vehicle utilization and route efficiency
- Monitor turnaround time and service delivery standards
- Implement operational improvement initiatives.
Fleet & Asset Management:
- Supervise fleet acquisition, maintenance, and replacement planning
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are adhered to
- Monitor fuel consumption and control operational waste
- Maintain accurate fleet records and asset registers
Financial Management:
- Manage revenue collection and cost control mechanisms
Section B (Primary Duties & Responsibilities) and Key Performance Indicators
- Monitor operational expenses (fuel, repairs, salaries, tolls, etc.)
- Analyze financial performance and profitability margins
- Approve expenditures within delegated authority.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations and licensing requirements
- Implement health, safety, and environmental standards
- Manage insurance coverage and claims processes
- Investigate and address accidents or operational incidents.
Team Leadership & Performance Management:
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate transport staff and drivers
- Set performance targets and KPIs for team members
- Conduct performance reviews and training programs
- Foster a culture of accountability and discipline.
Customer & Contract Management:
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with clients.
- Ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Handle client complaints and service recovery processes.
- Maintain long-term relationships with key clients.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Prepare monthly operational and financial reports
- Track KPIs such as fleet utilization rate, fuel efficiency, downtime, and revenue per vehicle
- Present performance reports to executive management.
Qualifications
- Interested candidates should possess a Bachelors Degree with 3 - 6 years experience.
