Job Summary
- The Business Strategy Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and synthesizing strategic business data to drive informed decision-making across RusselSmith.
- This role combines traditional strategic analysis with sustainability-oriented thinking, ensuring that business strategies align with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, environmental stewardship, and long-term economic resilience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Elicit and evaluate strategic requirements through interviews, business process mapping, scenario planning, and workflow analysis.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze functional requirements and deliver comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs).
- Drive and challenge business units on assumptions regarding strategy execution, resource allocation, and projected outcomes.
- Perform strategic operations analysis, including performance trends, industry scanning, and financial data interpretation.
- Embed sustainability principles (ESG) and carbon footprint implications into strategic analysis and business planning processes.
- Monitor and report on alignment with sustainability standards, including UN SDGs, ISO 14001, and industry ESG benchmarks.
- Conduct internal and external environmental scanning (SWOT/PESTLE) with an emphasis on sustainability-related developments.
- Develop and maintain competitor intelligence databases and market research data to support actionable recommendations.
- Implement business analytics platforms (e.g., Zoho Analytics, Power BI) for strategic and sustainability performance monitoring.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and waste minimization aligned with lean management and circular economy principles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in strategic analysis within a fast-paced or multi-cultural business environment.
- Experience in sustainability reporting or ESG integration is an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Strong quantitative skills, including statistics, data analysis, and quantitative modeling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Zoho Analytics or Power BI.
- Ability to conduct sustainability impact assessments and track carbon emissions/resource metrics.
- Knowledge of industry-specific ESG benchmarks and ISO 14001:2015 requirements.
- Ability to present complex strategic topics and data-driven recommendations to senior management.
