Job Responsibilities
Quantity Surveying / Cost Management:
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for power and electrical projects (e.g., substations, transmission lines, metering, distribution networks).
- Carry out cost estimation, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs from engineering drawings (cables, transformers, switchgear, poles, etc.).
- Monitor and control project costs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
- Evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Track material usage and minimize wastage on project sites.
- Support procurement with material schedules and cost analysis.
- Conduct site visits to validate progress against valuations.
Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop detailed project schedules and timelines using tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Break down project scope into structured Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Monitor and update project progress against baseline schedules.
- Identify delays, risks, and critical path issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and site teams for planning accuracy.
- Track resource allocation (labor, materials, equipment).
- Prepare and present progress reports, dashboards, and planning updates.
- Ensure alignment between project schedule and cost plans.
- Support tendering with execution timelines and planning strategies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- B.Sc / HND in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 4–6 years’ experience in electrical/power engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of power infrastructure components (transformers, cables, switchgear, substations).
- Good understanding of contract management principles.
