About the job
- Adexen has been mandated by a leading pan-African Manufacturer and Distributor of world-class medicine and medical supplies to recruit a Chief Financial Officer. The position is based in Lagos Nigeria.
Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Operations
- Lead and modernise the finance and accounting function
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements
- Manage audit processes and relationships with external auditors
- Ensure strict compliance with tax, regulatory and statutory requirements
Strategic Finance
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business growth objectives
- Support strategic initiatives including expansion, investments and M&A
- Evaluate and structure financing options (debt, equity, capital markets)
- Play a key role in IPO preparation
Risk & Treasury Management
- Identify and manage financial risks (market, credit, FX, operational)
- Strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks
- Optimise cash flow, liquidity and financing costs
- Maintain strong relationships with banks and financial partners
Investor Relations
- Manage relationships with investors, analysts and financial institutions
- Prepare and present financial performance and strategic updates
- Lead financial communications and reporting
Performance & Cost Management
- Drive cost optimisation and operational efficiency initiatives
- Monitor business performance and provide actionable insights
Team Leadership
- Lead, develop and structure a high-performing finance team
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and excellence
- Work cross-functionally to support business objectives
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience
- Minimum 20 years of experience in senior finance leadership roles
- Strong experience in manufacturing environments (Pharma or FMCG preferred)
- Experience in IPO preparation or working within a listed company is a strong advantage
Education
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- MBA (Finance) preferred
- Professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, CMA) highly desirable
Technical Skills
- Strong financial modelling, analysis and forecasting capabilities
- Solid knowledge of IFRS / GAAP and regulatory frameworks
- Expertise in treasury, risk management and cost optimisation
