Role Description




  • This is a full-time, on-site Counselor role based in Lagos, Nigeria. The Counselor will provide professional counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups, employing evidence-based practices such as the Person-Centered Approach. Daily responsibilities will include assessing clients' needs, providing therapeutic support, maintaining confidential records, and collaborating with colleagues to share expertise and ensure high-quality service delivery. The position also involves participating in community outreach efforts, including supporting initiatives with local NGOs, and staying updated with best practices through professional development activities.



Qualifications




  • Strong counseling skills, including the ability to assess client needs, establish therapeutic relationships, and implement evidence-based approaches such as the Person-Centered Model.

  • Proficiency in active listening, communication, emotional intelligence, and empathy to support clients effectively.

  • Organizational and administrative skills for maintaining confidential client records and managing case documentation.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development, including a willingness to improve counseling techniques and adopt new methodologies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including with local community partners and NGOs, as well as independently when providing one-on-one counseling services.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (counseling certification from CICN or equivalent is a plus).

  • Knowledge of cultural, social, and religious diversity with a commitment to inclusivity in counseling practices.

  • Experience in clinical or pastoral counseling is an advantage but not required.

  • Skilled in training facilitation and research work
