Job Summary




  • The Manager, Research will lead research initiatives focused on clean energy technologies, climate solutions, and sustainable development in Africa. The role involves managing research projects, generating evidence and insights, supporting policy and innovation programs, and collaborating with academic and industry partners.



Key Responsibilities




  • Develop and implement research agendas aligned with clean energy, climate resilience, and innovation priorities.

  • Lead research projects from design to completion including methodology, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis and produce reports, policy briefs, and research publications.

  • Engage academic institutions, government agencies, and industry partners for collaborative research and innovation.

  • Present research findings through workshops, conferences, and publications and support knowledge dissemination.

  • Identify funding opportunities, contribute to grant proposals, and manage donor funded research projects.

  • Track research outputs and impact including publications, policy engagement, and technology adoption.

  • Provide research insights to support incubation programs and emerging clean technology solutions.

  • Supervise research staff, interns, and consultants while fostering a collaborative research environment.



Qualifications




  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Energy Studies, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in research management within clean energy, climate change, technology, or sustainable development.



Required Skills and Competencies




  • Strong research methodology skills including survey design, data collection, and statistical analysis.

  • Proficiency in research and data tools such as Python, R, SPSS, Excel, or similar platforms.

  • Experience with qualitative analysis tools such as NVivo or related software.

  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate research into actionable insights.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills for both technical and non technical audiences.

  • Knowledge of clean energy technologies, climate policy, and African development contexts.

  • Experience managing research projects, timelines, and budgets.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
