Job Summary
- We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager with strong experience in the agricultural sector and proven ability to engage with government institutions.
- The role will focus on identifying growth opportunities, driving partnerships, securing government-related projects, and positioning the organization within public sector agricultural initiatives and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the agro value chain (farming, processing, distribution, agritech, etc.)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, and key public sector stakeholders
- Drive participation in government programs, grants, subsidies, and agricultural interventions
- Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives
- Prepare proposals, bids, and documentation for government and institutional projects
- Monitor government policies, regulations, and funding opportunities impacting the agricultural sector
- Establish partnerships with cooperatives, NGOs, and development agencies
- Negotiate contracts and close high-value deals with both public and private sector clients
- Collaborate with internal teams (operations, finance, and marketing) to deliver on projects
- Represent the company at industry events, stakeholder meetings, and policy forums
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5–8+ years of experience in business development within the agricultural sector
- Proven experience working with or engaging government bodies and public sector institutions
- Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and market dynamics
- Demonstrated success in securing partnerships, grants, or large-scale projects
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree (MBA, Agribusiness, or related field) is an advantage
- Experience with donor-funded projects (e.g., World Bank, IFAD, AFDB programs)
- Strong network within government ministries, agricultural agencies, and industry bodies
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance in the agricultural sector
