Job Summary
- Database Engineer with strong presales expertise, supporting database modernization, cloud migrations, HA/DR architectures, and platform selection across SQL, NoSQL, and cloud database offerings. Adept at presenting solutions, preparing RFP responses, designing architectures, and guiding customers through database transformation journeys. This includes—but is not limited to—Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, NoSQL engines (MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB/Cosmos DB), and cloud‑native database services.
- He/She will be responsible for growing the database services portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical discovery and requirements analysis
- Architecture design for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL
- RFP/RFQ responses, solution documentation, and BOM creation
- Database modernization assessments and cloud migration proposals
- Conducting customer demos and POCs
- TCO/ROI analysis for database consolidation/migration
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Experience (Required):
- 3–6+ years of hands-on experience in at least two major database engines:
- Oracle (11g–19c), SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB.
- Experience with backup/restore strategies, HA/DR, monitoring, performance optimization, and automation.
- Experience migrating workloads from on‑prem to cloud OR between DB engines.
Experience (Preferred / Nice-to-have):
- Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Ansible) and scripting (Python/Bash/PowerShell).
- Exposure to container platforms (Docker/K8S).
Certifications (Preferred):
- Oracle OCP, SQL Server certifications, and PostgreSQL certifications.
- Azure DP‑300, AWS Data Analytics/Database Specialty.
Key Experience:
- Supported sales teams with database migration strategy sessions
- Presented DB performance optimization approaches to enterprise customers
- Designed HA/DR architectures for mission‑critical systems
- Assisted with database sizing, licensing alignment, and cloud migration cost models
- Produce database HLDs/LLDs, SOPs, and operational documentation.
- Participate in presales (scoping, effort estimation, BOMs, presentations).
- Drive continuous tuning of database service offerings, SLAs, and managed services.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and administer Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL engines across on‑prem and cloud environments.
- Implement and support HA/DR architectures (Oracle DG/Active DG, SQL AlwaysOn, PostgreSQL streaming replication, MySQL clusters, cloud-native redundancy).
- Design and execute backup/restore, recovery tests, and runbooks across all platforms.
- Manage and optimize cloud-native databases (Azure SQL, Managed Instance, Amazon RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB).
- Lead database migrations from on‑prem → cloud, cloud → cloud, or cross‑engine migrations.
