Job Summary
- Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join their Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, ensuring statutory compliance, and managing day-to-day accounting operations.
- The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience using Sage Accounting Software and VT Transactions, with strong bookkeeping and reconciliation skills.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journals, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Produce monthly management accounts and support year-end financial statement preparation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
Bookkeeping & Transactions
- Process financial transactions using Sage and VT Transactions software.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts regularly.
- Maintain accurate cash flow records and monitor financial movements.
Tax & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings.
- Support external accountants and auditors during audits and financial reviews.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all financial activities.
Payroll & Administrative Support
- Assist with payroll processing and pension submissions where required.
- Support budgeting and expense monitoring activities.
- Maintain organised financial records and filing systems.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and financial controls.
- Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across finance operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- ACA, ACCA, ICAN, AAT, or equivalent accounting qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ accounting experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Sage Accounting Software and VT Transactions is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience preparing management accounts.
- Knowledge of VAT and UK financial compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Salary Range: N150,000 - N250000
