Job Summary




  • We are seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resource Officer to oversee and coordinate all HR functions within our agricultural farming operations.

  • The ideal candidate must possess strong knowledge of human resource management practices, labor laws, workforce administration, employee relations, and farm workforce management.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient HR operations while supporting the organization's productivity and growth objectives.



Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Staffing:




  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes for farm workers, supervisors, technical staff, and administrative employees.

  • Conduct interviews, employee onboarding, orientation, and induction programs.

  • Develop manpower plans based on farm operational requirements.

  • Maintain a talent pipeline for seasonal and permanent workforce needs.



Employee Relations and Welfare:




  • Serve as the primary contact for employee grievances and conflict resolution.

  • Foster positive employee relations and workplace harmony.

  • Coordinate employee welfare programs, accommodation issues, transportation, and other welfare initiatives where applicable.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and labor regulations.



Performance Management:




  • Monitor employee performance and attendance.

  • Coordinate performance appraisal exercises and probation reviews.

  • Provide support to department heads on employee performance improvement plans.

  • Recommend disciplinary actions where necessary.



Payroll and Compensation Administration:




  • Prepare and maintain accurate employee records for payroll processing.

  • Monitor attendance, overtime, leave records, and shift schedules.

  • Support salary administration and benefits management.

  • Ensure payroll data accuracy and compliance.



Training and Development:




  • Identify training needs across farm operations.

  • Organize employee training programs on safety, compliance, productivity, and workplace conduct.

  • Monitor training effectiveness and employee development initiatives.



Compliance and Industrial Relations:




  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian Labour Laws and company policies.

  • Maintain proper HR documentation and statutory records.

  • Handle disciplinary matters, investigations, warnings, and employee exits.

  • Ensure workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance from an HR perspective.



HR Administration:




  • Maintain employee files and HR databases.

  • Generate periodic HR reports and workforce analytics.

  • Manage leave administration and employee documentation.

  • Conduct exit interviews and employee clearance processes.



Job Requirements

Education:




  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.



Experience:




  • Minimum of 3–7 years proven experience in Human Resource Management.

  • Must have practical HR experience within an Agricultural Farm, Agro-Allied Company, Plantation, Livestock Farm, Fish Farm, Poultry Farm, or related agricultural environment.

  • Experience managing both permanent and casual workforce is highly desirable.



Knowledge and Skills:




  • Comprehensive understanding of all Human Resource functions and operations.

  • Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll administration, performance management, and disciplinary procedures.

  • Good understanding of Nigerian Labour Laws and employment regulations.

  • Experience handling large farm workforce operations.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
