Job Purpose / Objectives




  • We are seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and results-driven professional to lead our Legal Team.

  • As a Senior Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing sound legal advisory services, manage litigation and corporate legal matters, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, protect the organization’s legal interests, and support management in achieving strategic business objectives.



Responsibilities




  • Provide legal advice and guidance on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and operational matters.

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and vet contracts, agreements, memoranda, and other legal documents.

  • Represent the organization in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution proceedings.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.

  • Manage external solicitors, consultants, and regulatory relationships where necessary.

  • Conduct legal research and provide opinions on emerging legal and regulatory issues.

  • Prepare and review legal correspondence, reports, and documentation.

  • Advise management on legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Handle employment and labour-related legal matters when required.

  • Support company secretarial functions including board resolutions, statutory filings, and corporate documentation.

  • Monitor changes in legislation and ensure organizational compliance with applicable laws.

  • Participate in policy formulation and review to ensure legal adequacy.



Requirements




  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (B.L) qualification.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ post-call experience in legal practice or corporate legal advisory services.

  • Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and possession of a valid practicing license.

  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, labour, and regulatory laws.

  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage complex legal matters with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in legal research and use of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience in litigation and dispute resolution will be an added advantage.
