REQUIREMENTS



  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university or any related discipline in the field of Engineering. Additional qualifications would be advantageous.

  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in managing multiple lines in medium scale power plant of 10MW and above.

  • At least 10 years hands-on Engineering Management experience at a senior level, the greater part of which should have been acquired in the management of maintenance workshops or facilities associated with container handling or similar heavy static and mobile equipment

  • Experience in a busy Container Terminal is essential.

  • Must be customer focused with a good understanding of how the Engineering function should contribute to the viability of the business

  • Excellent planning and management skills; able to manage a diverse team and achieve high levels of operational efficiency with minimum equipment downtime.

  • Excellent communication skills in English and able to manage effectively in a multicultural environment

  • Must have a strong hands-on engineering experience on all container port equipment STS, RTG, ES, RS, FL etc.


JOB DESCRIPTION



  • Organize/direct all operating and maintenance activities of all utilities to ensure uninterrupted supplies - Power plant (10MW power plant - 2Mw x 8 diesel Gen set) and water plant while providing leadership to direct reports and entire staff.

  • Take overall responsibility for all production related operations including power and water distribution, plant safety, industrial excellence and technical support, human

  • Managing the maintenance and repair of container cranes, handling equipment, facilities and utilities is at the highest possible standards in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

  • Responsible for new terminal equipment from tendering specification to final testing commissioning and safe handover.

  • Maintain control over purchase and issuance of spare parts, consumable, lubricants, tools and equipment from the engineering stores and monitoring of stock inventory levels

  • Good negotiation skills to get optimum results from supplier, contractors & service providers.

  • Ensure that all engineering work is performed to the highest standard to meet operational requirements.

  • Ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively in order to meet company targets in respect of equipment availability, reliability and maintenance costs.

  • Identify problem areas, investigate and implement solutions.

  • Control materials and parts inventories & utilisation to ensure that optimum stocks are maintained to ensure availability as needed. Also responsible for all engineering related procurement and for keeping costs within acceptable budget levels.

  • Implement projects to improve equipment operational efficiency and economies.

  • Ensure work a safe working environment and compliance with company and port regulations.

  • Maintain full and complete records to facilitate planning and analysis.
