Responsibilities




  • The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and leading a world-class technical training academy dedicated to developing operational excellence, technical competencies and a sustainable talent pipeline within the Group's glass manufacturing business.



Training Strategy & Academy Development:




  • Design and implement a comprehensive Glass Academy strategy aligned with the Group’s operational and business objectives.

  • Develop structured technical training curricula covering all key aspects of glass manufacturing operations.

  • Establish competency frameworks, certification programs and career development pathways for production, maintenance and technical personnel.

  • Drive the implementation of a structured learning culture across the organization.

  • Develop long-term capability building initiatives to support future business growth.



Technical Training & Capability Building:




  • Design and oversee training programs covering:

    • Glass manufacturing processes (batch preparation, melting, forming, annealing and inspection).

    • Forming operations, process optimization and defect reduction.

    • IS machine fundamentals and job change procedures.

    • Mould maintenance and basic mould design principles.

    • Furnace operations and glass conditioning.

    • Process control, quality assurance and defect identification.

    • Mechanical, electrical and maintenance fundamentals.

    • Operational safety and continuous improvement practices.



  • Deliver or supervise classroom, on-the-job and hands-on technical training programs.

  • Implement modern learning methodologies including blended learning, simulations and digital learning platforms.

  • Partner with internal experts and external training providers where required.



Academy Operations Management:




  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Glass Academy.

  • Oversee training facilities, equipment, learning resources and training schedules.

  • Ensure all training activities are delivered according to established quality and compliance standards.

  • Manage training budgets and resource allocation effectively.



Talent Development & Succession Planning:




  • Assess competency gaps across production, quality and maintenance functions.

  • Develop structured onboarding programs for newly recruited employees.

  • Support succession planning initiatives and leadership development programs.

  • Contribute to workforce planning and long-term organizational capability development.



Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:




  • Establish KPIs and performance measurement systems to assess training effectiveness.

  • Monitor trainee progress, competency assessments and certification achievements.

  • Evaluate the impact of training initiatives on operational performance, productivity, quality and safety.

  • Continuously improve training programs based on operational feedback and performance data.



Stakeholder Management:




  • Work closely with Plant Management, Production Leaders, Technical Teams and Human Resources.

  • Ensure training priorities are aligned with operational and business requirements.

  • Develop partnerships with technical institutions, vocational centers and industry associations.

  • Act as a key advisor on workforce capability development and operational excellence initiatives.



Health, Safety & Compliance:




  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout all training activities.

  • Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations and best practices.

  • Maintain the highest standards of operational discipline and training governance.



Desired Skills and Experience




  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Learning & Development, Industrial Training or Organizational Development would be advantageous.

  • Professional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Operational Excellence are highly desirable.

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience within glass manufacturing operations.

  • Proven exposure to core glass production processes including forming, furnace operations, quality control and maintenance.

  • Previous experience managing technical training programs, industrial academies or workforce capability development initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing excellence, process optimization and operational performance improvement.

  • Experience working within large industrial manufacturing environments.

  • Deep understanding of glass manufacturing technologies and production processes.

  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, maintenance practices and process control methodologies.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical learning solutions.
