Job Description
Our client runs a dine-in restaurant serving afro-fusion cuisine. They are hiring a Line Cook to own a station, deliver consistent plates, and help raise the kitchen's standards during a busy service.
What you will do
- Prep and cook dishes on your assigned station to recipe and spec.
- Plate food to presentation standards throughout service.
- Keep your station clean, stocked, and ready before, during, and after each shift.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and HACCP rules at all times.
- Taste and adjust seasoning to hold flavor consistent across every plate.
- Work with the sous chef to refine afro-fusion recipes and test new dishes.
- Track ingredient usage and flag low stock to reduce waste.
- Support other stations during peak service.
What we are looking for
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience as a line cook in a busy dine-in restaurant.
- Strong skill with Nigerian and West African ingredients
- Working knowledge of continental techniques: sauté, grill, sauces, and plating.
- Sharp knife skills and steady speed under pressure.
- Food handler certification, or willingness to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Clean kitchen habits and respect for mise en place.
- Reliable timekeeping and steady output during peak hours.
- Open to feedback and ready to learn new techniques.
Bonus points
- Past experience in a restaurant doing afro-fusion or modern African plating.
- Familiarity with kitchen display systems (KDS) or POS tools like Toast, Square, or similar.
