Overview




  • The Legal Officer provides essential legal support across the Group’s business units, ensuring all activities are conducted within a robust legal and regulatory framework.

  • The role involves drafting critical documentation, managing contract lifecycles, and supporting the Company Secretariat to maintain high standards of corporate governance.



Key Responsibilities




  • Conduct first-level drafts and reviews of contracts, agreements and other legal documents under the supervision of the Legal Manager.

  • Provide legal support to the Group’s business units and support functions on day-to-day legal matters.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions, memoranda and advisory notes on regulatory, corporate and commercial matters.

  • Maintain and update the Legal Department’s contract database, litigation tracker, regulatory filing records, legal precedents and other departmental records.

  • Provide company secretarial support, including preparing Board and Committee papers, drafting resolutions, maintaining statutory registers and records, and making requisite regulatory filings, where required.

  • Monitor contractual obligations, key milestones and renewal dates, and ensure timely follow-up with relevant stakeholders.

  • Liaise with external solicitors, regulators and other stakeholders on assigned matters and monitor the progress of external legal engagements.

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Legal Managers or the Head, Legal Services.



Job Requirements

Qualification:




  • LL.B. from a recognised university and B.L. from the Nigerian Law School.

  • Qualified to practise as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.



Work Experience:





  • 1-2 years’ post-call experience, preferably in a reputable law firm or financial services organisation.
