Job Description




  • The Senior Project Cost Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, determination of project budgets, and controlling of project budgets, while supporting decision-making by project stakeholders.

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimation methodologies, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.



Key Responsibilities




  • Cost Control Systems: Develop and implement cost control procedures and methodologies; monitor budgets, expenditures, and commitments to ensure accurate tracking.

  • Cost Analysis & Reporting: Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and potential overruns; prepare timely cost reports, forecasts, and performance analyses for stakeholders.

  • Estimating & Validation: Produce detailed cost estimates based on scope, specifications, and designs; review and validate contractor and supplier estimates.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate estimation and budget alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Budget Control: Track and control costs against established budgets, address variances, and provide insights on financial risks and implications.

  • Value Engineering: Evaluate alternatives, propose cost-optimization solutions, and conduct feasibility and cost-benefit analyses without compromising quality or safety.

  • Continuous Improvement: Establish and update cost databases, historical benchmarks, and methodologies; provide guidance and training on estimation techniques.

  • Risk Management: Identify risks impacting costs, develop contingency plans, and incorporate appropriate allowances into estimates.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Present assumptions, methodologies, and results clearly; foster strong relationships and address cost-related inquiries.

Key Requirements




  • Education: Minimum B.Sc. in Engineering or Quantity Surveying; MBA/Master’s degree is an added advantage. ● Professional Certifications: PMP, PRINCE II, or equivalent project management qualifications; SAP Project Systems proficiency.

  • Experience: At least 15 years as a Project Cost Estimator or similar role in the oil & gas industry.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of cost estimation methodologies, techniques, and best practices; proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., CostX, WinEst, Timberline).

  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and mathematical ability with keen attention to detail.

  • Project Management: Solid understanding of project management principles, engineering disciplines, construction methods, and industry-specific cost factors.

  • Communication: Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
