Job Summary
- The company is seeking an Accounts Director who will provide strategic leadership and oversee the company's entire financial management framework to ensure compliance, sustainability, and profitability.
- In this role, you will be responsible for driving financial strategy, risk management, and stakeholder engagement to support long-term organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
In addition to mastering the responsibilities of all team members and managers within the Accounts & Finance Department, you are required to:
- Provide general supervision of the day-to-day activities of the Accounts Department.
- Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Provide quarterly financial insights to the Board of Directors and Executive Management for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with international accounting standards, tax laws, and statutory regulations across all Group locations, including, but not limited to, Ghana, DRC, UAE, and SierraLeone.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Lead external audits and regulatory reviews, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Supervise all financial operations across departments, including Accounts, P&L, Projects, Contracts, and Service & Maintenance.
- Drive efficiency in receivables collection and cash flow management.
- Oversee the reconciliation of all ledger accounts and ensure continuous improvement of accounting procedures.
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Conduct financial evaluations to identify cost reduction and revenue optimization opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, regulators, and investors.
- Negotiate financing arrangements, credit facilities, and bank charges to optimize financial outcomes.
- Represent the company in financial discussions with board members and external partners.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts & Finance team to achieve excellence across the Group.
- Review, update, and communicate departmental SOPs and best practices.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
OHSE Responsibilities:
- Champion compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across all finance operations.
- Ensure financial decisions incorporate sustainability, climate change awareness, waste reduction, and energy efficiency.
- Promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture within the organization.
Requirements
- MBA/MSc in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certifications: ICAN, ACCA, CFA (preferred).
- Strong background in corporate finance, investment analysis, and risk management.
- Advanced understanding of tax laws, statutory requirements, and corporate governance.
- In-depth knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP).
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems, with proficiency in the use of SAP S/4Hana.
- Strategic thinking and financial leadership.
- Advanced negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage complex financial structures and multi-departmental operations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for board-level reporting.
- Proven ability to lead large teams and drive organizational change.
- Ability to promote efficient working relationships in a multi-cultural environment.
- French-speaking ability would be an added advantage.
