Job Description

Job Summary

  • TeamAce is seeking a disciplined and detail-focused Chief Accountant to oversee accounting operations across the group.

  • The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely transaction processing, journals, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity, while coordinating closely with the Financial Controller to deliver a high-quality month-end close and maintain robust supporting schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting postings across sales, expenses, accruals, prepayments, and other journals with appropriate supporting evidence.

  • Maintain general ledger (GL) hygiene, including correct coding, timely posting, and disciplined handling of suspense items.

  • Ensure all journals are properly authorised in line with Delegation of Authority and audit trail requirements.

  • Execute and/or supervise key reconciliations (bank, clearing accounts, gateway settlements, key balance sheet accounts) and ensure reconciling items are aged and resolved.

  • Maintain balance sheet schedules and supporting working papers required for month-end close and audit readiness.

  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation runs.

  • Ensure capitalization and expense recognition align with policy and approvals; maintain supporting documents.

  • Support the Financial Controller during month-end close by preparing trial balance schedules, journal packs, and reconciliations for review and sign-off.

  • Ensure cut-off discipline for expenses and revenue-related postings in coordination with AR/AP and business units.

  • Strengthen process discipline across invoice processing, documentation completeness, and ledger controls.

  • Work with Tech/Data to improve posting automation, reduce manual errors, and highlight system gaps impacting accounting integrity.

  • Coordinate with Internal Control during reviews and ensure timely closure of findings related to accounting operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred; part-qualified candidates may be considered based on depth of experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in accounting operations, including journals, reconciliations, and ledger control.

  • Experience in multi-channel environments (retail/ecommerce/distribution) is an advantage, especially where payment gateways and POS reconciliations are required.

  • Strong command of journals, reconciliations, and ledger controls; comfortable working to close deadlines.

  • Solid understanding of accruals, prepayments, cut-offs, and supporting schedules.

  • Experience maintaining a fixed assets register and depreciation schedules.

  • Strong documentation discipline and comfort working within approval and evidence requirements.

  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and spreadsheets.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to operating locations as required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Detail-focused with strong ownership and follow-through.

  • Disciplined, organised, and consistent; able to work through high transaction volumes without quality loss.

  • Collaborative and service-oriented, while maintaining strong control boundaries.

  • Proactive in identifying issues early and escalating with solutions.

  • Ability to work under pressure during close cycles and peak periods.

  • Strict confidentiality and a strong control mindset.
