Job Purpose




  • To manage the company's tax compliance, tax accounting, statutory filings, reconciliations, and tax-related reporting in accordance with applicable Nigerian tax laws and regulatio

  • ns. The role will ensure timely and accurate tax filings, minimize compliance risks, and support the company during tax audits and assessments.



Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance:




  • Prepare and file applicable tax returns within statutory deadlines.

  • Manage Withholding Tax (WHT) calculations, deductions, payments, and credit notes/certificates.

  • Prepare and monitor Value Added Tax (VAT) computations and filings.

  • Handle PAYE and other applicable employment-related tax obligations.

  • Monitor applicable Companies Income Tax (CIT) obligations.

  • Review tax implications of transactions before posting/processing where required.

  • Maintain an accurate tax compliance calendar.



Tax Reconciliation & Accounting:




  • Reconcile WHT, VAT, PAYE, CIT and other tax-related ledger accounts.

  • Reconcile tax deductions with vendor/customer balances.

  • Track outstanding WHT certificates and tax credits.

  • Ensure tax balances in the accounting system agree with statutory records.

  • Prepare tax schedules and supporting workings for management and auditors.



Tax Audit & Regulatory Matters:




  • Coordinate responses to tax queries from relevant Nigerian tax authorities.

  • Support tax audits, investigations, assessments and reconciliations.

  • Maintain proper documentation for tax audits.

  • Liaise with external tax consultants and auditors when required.

  • Monitor changes in Nigerian tax legislation and communicate relevant changes to management.



Transaction Review:




  • Review invoices, payments, contracts and other transactions for applicable tax treatments.

  • Ensure appropriate WHT rates and VAT treatments are applied.

  • Identify potential tax exposures and escalate them to management.

  • Assist in reviewing cross-border transactions and applicable tax considerations.



Reporting:




  • Prepare monthly tax reports and compliance status reports.

  • Provide management with information regarding tax liabilities, credits and exposures.

  • Prepare tax provisions and schedules for month-end and year-end closing.



Required Qualifications




  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.

  • Professional qualification such as ICAN/ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.

  • 3–5 years of relevant tax/accounting experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax compliance and accounting practices.

  • Experience with accounting/ERP software and Microsoft Excel.
