Position Summary

The Farm Pen Worker is responsible for the daily care, maintenance, and monitoring of livestock pens. This role ensures that birds/animals have a clean, safe, and healthy environment, supporting overall farm productivity, animal welfare, and biosecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Care

• Monitor birds/animals daily for health, behavior, and activity level.


• Identify sick or injured animals and report issues immediately.


• Assist with administering feed, water, and supplements as instructed.

Pen Maintenance

• Clean pens, remove waste, and ensure bedding is properly managed.


• Maintain feeding and watering equipment.


• Ensure pens are dry, well-ventilated, and secure.

Biosecurity & Safety

• Follow all farm biosecurity protocols (footbath, clothing, PPE).


• Control entry into pens to prevent contamination.


• Follow safety practices when handling animals or equipment.

Record Keeping

• Document daily mortality, feed consumption, and unusual observations.


• Report inventory changes (feed, bedding, medications).

General Support

• Assist with vaccination, sorting, loading, or treatment processes.


• Help maintain farm cleanliness and sanitation overall.


• Support other farm workers when needed.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with animals (preferred but not required).


• Ability to follow directions and adhere to strict hygiene protocols.


• Physically able to lift 30–50 lbs and stand for long periods.


• Comfortable working in warm or humid environments.


• Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail.
