Main Functions
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality drilling engineering solutions that align with the company's strategic objectives.
- Optimize the drilling operations to enhance safety, performance, and productivity.
- Develop and implement innovative drilling techniques and technologies to improve operational efficiency.
- Implement direct 5ives on budget management for ensure cost-effective drilling practices.
- Guide younger drilling engineers to foster skill development and professional growth.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with company goals and industry standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with drilling operations to safeguard company assets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in drilling processes and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with national regulations and company policies in all drilling activities.
- Provide input into the planning and execution of drilling projects to achieve desired outcomes.
Tasks and Responsibilities

- Maintains awareness of and ensures compliance with all relevant statutory and COMPANY HSE standards.
- Actively participates in Company safety awareness and initiative schemes and ensures the contractors under his/her responsibility are compliant
- Promote personnel safety, protection of the environment, and COMPANY assets onsite
- Ensure all aspects of the completion & well cleanup/well testing & rig-supported well intervention Operations comply with COMPANY. Referential, program, and best practices.
- Responsible for avoiding major risks at the well site through robust engineering input in the market in which the position operates: Regulated
- Typology of contacts related to the position: Internal & external stakeholders connected to the position
- Interface with internal company departments: GSR - HSE - Field Operations Development Planning
- External contacts: Service companies, partners, and regulators

- The Drilling Engr position is responsible for the following;
- Know, respect and ensure compliance with the company's code of Conduct.
- Follow the asset rigs operation and ensure they are conducted in line with the operational programs and Company referential
- Prepare well project cost and budget preparations
- Supervise the engineering/construction work of contractors, planning. Follow up through SQM
- Ensure necessary permits are delivered on time by Nigerian authorities.
- Reporting (weekly and monthly) High technology involved Critical interfaces with project packages Critical interfaces with Nigerian authorities (NUIMS, NUPRC, NNRA & NCDMB) 1.
- Organization: (in relationship with Technical Services, GSR and Assets) Participate and Contribute to SOR/WLR for drilling and ensure on timely delivery of work scope together with GSR inclusive
- of all Exploration projects Involved in project interfaces, SIMOPS (ECP/ Project / Field Ops). Participating in partner and coventurers meetings
- Technical: Prepare drilling engineering design and procedures. Prepare drilling programs.
- Ensure that the drilling improvement process is implemented and effective
- Prepare/Review derogations to company reference as required. Conduct the CFTs for drilling services, prepare the ITT documents, and perform the evaluations of Onshore D&W contracts
- Prepare and issue REX as required
- Provide input for onshore drilling engineering studies for long term projects
- Mentor young cadets
- Provide support to the superintendent in execution of nominated Onshore well
Job Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualification level required for the position: Master’s or equivalent level
- Level of experience required for the position: Initial formal education: Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent Professional experience (number of years): 10 years' drilling related experience
- Technical skills required for the position: Drilling operation follow-up Calls for tender and contracts Well-designed and Drilling program
- Context of regulations: Wells / productivity HSE Technical Logistics
- Behavioral and presentation competencies required for the position: Interpersonal skills Good
- English oral, written presentation skills Excellent analytical, reporting, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Language skills required for the position: English (fluent)
- Certification required for the position: IWCF level 4 (in less than 3 months after resumption) & DRILLCAP
- Specific knowledge required for the position: Well design HSE Well Completion Well-intervention
- Experience in operations contracts management and well site drilling
- Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills for process and technical issues
- Sound knowledge of the local regulations (and best practices) governing well operations Other (former experience desirable): Cadet training onsite Software: Well view, Power point, word, excel, Well plan.
