Job Description
Job Purpose
- The Account Officer is responsible for supporting the Company’s financial and accounting operations through accurate financial record-keeping, transaction processing, account reconciliation, expense monitoring and preparation of financial reports.
- The role ensures financial transactions are properly documented, records are up to date, and accounting activities follow the Company’s financial policies and procedures.
- The Account Officer will work under the Chief Accountant's supervision to maintain financial accuracy, support effective financial control, and provide timely accounting information to Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including receipts, payments and expenses.
- Process approved invoices, payment requests and other accounting transactions.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and investigate financial discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, schedules and management accounts.
- Support payroll documentation, statutory deduction schedules and other assigned accounting activities.
- Ensure proper documentation, filing and safekeeping of financial records.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing relevant financial records.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Report errors, irregularities and suspicious transactions promptly to the Chief Accountant.
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant or Management.

- Accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Timely processing of transactions and submission of reports.
- Accuracy and timely completion of bank reconciliations.
- Effective monitoring of receivables and outstanding balances.
- Compliance with accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Proper documentation and timely identification of discrepancies.
- Professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline with 2 years experience
- Experience in a publishing or manufacturing firm is an added advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Good numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under supervision.
