About the Role
- The company is seeking a strategic, experienced, and people-focused Human Resources Manager to lead the company's HR function and support the development of a high-performing workforce.
- The successful candidate will oversee key areas of human resource management, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation, HR policies, and compliance.
- The role will also serve as a key link between management and employees, helping to foster a positive, productive, and professional workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Workforce Management:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the company's business objectives.
- Advise management on people-related matters and workforce planning.
- Review HR processes and recommend improvements that support business growth and efficiency. Maintain effective HR policies, procedures, and employee guidelines.
Recruitment & Talent Management:
- Manage the full recruitment and selection process, from identifying staffing needs to onboarding new employees.
- Work with department heads to develop job descriptions and define hiring requirements.
- Ensure new employees are properly onboarded and integrated into the organization.
- Develop strategies for attracting, retaining, and developing high-performing employees.
Employee Relations & Workplace Culture:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and workplace issues.
- Manage employee relations matters fairly, professionally, and confidentially.
- Support conflict resolution and promote positive relationships between management and employees. Promote a professional, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.
- Coordinate employee engagement and team-building initiatives.
Performance Management & Development:
- Coordinate the company's performance management and appraisal processes.
- Work with managers to establish performance expectations and address performance gaps.
- Identify training and development needs across the organization.
- Coordinate relevant training, learning, and career development initiatives.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration:
- Support the administration of salaries, benefits, leave, attendance, and other employer-related matters.
- Review compensation and benefits structures to ensure they remain fair and competitive.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee information.
HR Compliance & Policies:
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable Nigerian labour laws and employment regulations.
- Review and update HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and employment documentation as required.
- Ensure consistent application of company policies and disciplinary procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and HR best practices.
HR Reporting & Analytics:
- Monitor and report on key HR metrics, including employee turnover, recruitment timelines, attendance, and engagement.
- Prepare regular HR reports and provide insights to management.
- Use HR data to identify workforce trends and recommend appropriate actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years' experience in HR management, HR generalist, or a senior HR role.
- Proven experience managing employee relations, conflict resolution, recruitment, and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS or other HR management systems.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have:
- Professional certification such as CIPM, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR.
- Experience working in a rapidly growing or high-growth organization.
- Experience within the hospitality, food, restaurant, retail, or FMCG industry is an advantage.
- Master's degree or advanced qualification in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
