Job Description

The Social Media Strategist is as much a big-picture thinker as a doer. In this role, you will oversee production timelines and editorial calendar creation across ongoing social efforts, distill information and business objectives into insights that drive compelling presentations, identify key opportunities for growing social programs, and work with the content team and social journalists on ongoing content refinement efforts. You will also work with the analytics and strategy teams to develop full-funnel social strategies for prospective and existing clients. 

The Social Media Strategist will possess the following professional skills and competencies:

  • A passion for social, content and digital marketing and knowledge of social platform best practices
  • A fundamental understanding of content marketing and how all social channels can be leveraged as marketing tools
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in social media execution and content strategy
  • Experience in content creation and management: blogs, social media, print, digital and broadcast content
  • Client communication and presentation skills, including comfort with speaking extemporaneously and identifying quick answers to client questions
  • Knowledge of tools that support employee advocacy and record keeping
  • Knowledge of social media listening tools and social media listening practices
  • Experience with Paid Media support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, including the ability to build presentations that leverage a central narrative to achieve buy-in from decision-makers

Key Functional Areas of Responsibility

  • Formulate strategies for the creation, integration and distribution of social media content across multiple channels
  • Ensure all deliverables are closely aligned and integrated with clients’ brand positioning, business objectives, and marketing and program strategies
  • Identify organic growth opportunities and work with strategy team to execute
  • Lead internal and external teams in understanding how brands can compete in today’s ever-changing social media landscape, with a focus on trend analysis
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure social media content is aligned with program, platform and content strategy
  • Work with social journalists to tailor social media content to fulfill the client’s tone and voice and align with target audience personas
  • Collaborate with video, digital and design departments to produce customized content for social channels
  • Collaborate with the Social and digital team on content analysis, optimizations, and recommendations for analytics dashboards and reports as well as new business opportunities
  • Help identify and manage relevant KPIs for social media programs
  • Keep pace with advertising, social media, and content marketing industry trends and developments
  • Research and administer social media tools in support of clients’ current and aspirational social media strategy
