ABOUT THE JOB


Job description:


The logistics coordinator pilot logistics activities of the mission to ensure the smooth running of SI programs in the country. He ensures the implementation of SI procedures and logistics tools on the mission and ensure their compliance and their proper use. He helps define the mission strategy, drafting and design projects necessary means and activities SI. He supports the Country Director in the operational safety. He is the referent on the mission and the link between headquarters and the mission for any issue related to logistics.


Specific stakes and challenges:




  • Logistic management capacity. Limited presence in the field for senior staff, the Logistic coordinator will have to participate on designing a logistic strategy (HR/process….) to insure compliance of logistic process within a restricted access constraint.




  • Participate to risk mitigation analysis along with CDs, FCO and security coordinator to setup efficient mitigation measure (tools, process…) at field level (infrastructure, telecom, contingency plan….)




  • Empower the inter department coordination/communication (with program, finance….) at each level (base, coordination….) to generate/increase global understanding of the mission and of challenges in the different departments.




Priorities for the 2/3 first months:




  • Harmonize the standard and approach of logistics within the different bases:




    • Remote management




    • Security means setup




    • Use of monitoring tools






  • Define with the bases/coordination the relevant means for logistic department (HR….) to suit the new situation of the mission (financial situation, access challenges…)




  • Ensure a precise monitoring, forecasting of logistics expenses to increase the accuracy of our budgeting.




  • Analyse and rationalize where possible the bases/coordination support running costs (supplies, maintenance, DW….)




  • Office 365 deployment




YOUR PROFILE


Skills and experience:




  • A university degree in a related field is recommended.




  • 3-4 years of relevant experience




  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and database management.




  • Strong management capacity with an inclusive approach




  • Strong inter department coordination capacity




  • Experience in remote management would be an asset




  • English is mandatory




SI WILL OFFER YOU


A salaried position :

According to experience, starting from EUR 2400 gross per month (+ 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly i.e. 2640 euros gross per month) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 600.


SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.


Breaks : During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months. For a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have a 7 working days break at 3, 6 and 9 months (with 850 USD allocated by SI).


To these break periods, it is necessary to add the granting of one additional rest day per month worked.


Social and health cover :

Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.


Living conditions :


The Logistics Coordinator will be based in Maiduguri, where all the coordination and regional teams are based.


In Maiduguri, the base offers a comfortable environment despite limited movements outside of the compound for security reasons. The Guest House offers good living conditions, with a private bedroom and bathroom and shared and comfortable common spaces. Electricity and internet are available at the office and at the GH at all times. Volleyball and badminton court, ping pong, and some gym equipment are available in the GH. All essential goods (food, hygiene etc..) can be bought locally in the small shops around the office, or in the pre-validated supermarket. Maiduguri has a good social life, even though the Covid-19 context has slowed it down. Visits to other NGOs are possible, as well as some pre-validated place.
