Duty Station: Roving (Gwoza & Ngala)

Contract Term: 1-year fixed term

(3 months probation period)


Position overview. 


With the direct supervision of the Education Manager, the Education Officer is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of NHF-funded projects that focus on formal and non-formal education. The education officer is responsible for accurate data collection and documentation, teacher training, liaising with local government education authorities, and school Heads and principals, drafting reports, following up on the maintenance of the school together with the construction foreman and regularly communicating with the education manager. 



  • Ensures the quality day-to-day implementation of teaching and learning activities at the learning centers.

  • Ensure proper records of enrollment data and learner retention in schools/Learning centers.

  • Works closely with the school head, SBMC’s CVTS, and Community Stakeholders to ensure enrollment of learners back to school and deliver the project activities on time.

  • Support the Facilitation of accelerated education programs and distribution of scholastic material aligned with needs on the ground.

  • Monitor the learning progress at the spaces.

  • Support the consultant in conducting in-service teachers/facilitators training based on teachers' training needs.

  •  Ensures effective budget management based on existing tools (PR tracking and BvA) to avoid under or overspending. Tracks the PR on regular basis to ensure quality budget management.

  • Conduct weekly review meetings with field staff and be responsible for sharing progress report updates promptly.

  • Represents CATAI in all coordination meetings both at the state and local level.

  • Work closely with the M & E team to ensure timely submission of the 5Ws and capture all necessary documents and MOVs are stored.


Key Competencies:


Understanding the education context in north-eastern Nigeria, with specific experience in Borno state preferred.



  • Good knowledge and understanding of Do-No Harm principles and established International child protection standards.

  • Experience mobilizing communities and interacting with government, coordination, and LGEAs.

  • Experience with non-formal and formal education and mainstreaming.

  • Experience implementing NHF/ECHO project is an added advantage.

  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Fluency in English, and local language both written and oral is required.


Job Essentials:



  • B.Sc / BA /B.Ed HND/NCE in Education, Social Sciences, or equivalent field experience

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in Education, and humanitarian education programs.

  • Previous experience in capacity building/training facilitation is desirable.

  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in remote areas, and a challenging work environment with minimal direct supervision.
