Role Description



  • Our client, in the hospitality industry, located in Ikoyi, Lagos is looking to hire a full-time Hospitality Accountant.

  • The potential candidate would be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations of the Hospitality Division of the hotel and restaurant.

  • Detailed analysis of the hospitality books, recording of revenues, the disbursement of payments, and keeping of records is just some of the job description of this role.


Responsibilities



  • Oversee all aspects of accounts payables.

  • Manage guest and vendor relations and the accounts payables disbursements, handle all check disbursements, and tax-related matters.

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting functions, including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable and project accounting.

  • Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.

  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements.

  • Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month-end information.

  • Enter status change information into project accounting software to ensure employee information is accurate and up-to-date.

  • Provide accounting assistance to project managers and operations staff.

  • Respond to financial questions and concerns to meet business needs.

  • Act as a liaison between the company, government and external accountants to meet information needs and to ensure that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.


Qualifications



  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or its equivalent is required.

  • At least 4 years of experience in Hospitality Finance/Accounting is preferred.

  • Experience with the use of accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage 50 is important.

  • Excellent understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and accounting transactions.

  • Ability to use accounting and finance tools to perform effective financial analysis and reporting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and cooperate with others in cross-functional teams.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is recommended including proficiency in Excel.
