About the job
- As the Engineering Manager (Electrical) for our client's energy company, you will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of electrical systems within our power infrastructure and energy generation projects.
- You will lead a team of electrical engineers, ensuring that all projects meet regulatory standards, are completed on time, and within budget.
- You will also collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to drive the company's strategic objectives in energy generation and distribution.
Responsibilities
Project Management and Planning:
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of electrical engineering projects related to power infrastructure and energy generation.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
Design and Development:
- Supervise the design and development of electrical systems for power plants, substations, and distribution networks.
- Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure high standards in engineering practices and project execution.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of electrical systems and equipment.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, including mechanical engineering, civil engineering, procurement, and project management, to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate with utility companies and government agencies for permits and approvals.
Technical Expertise and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements in electrical engineering and energy generation.
- Promote the adoption of innovative solutions and technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
- Provide technical expertise and support to solve complex engineering challenges.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization of resources.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize expenditure without compromising quality.
- Prepare and present budget reports to senior management.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical engineering projects.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to address unforeseen issues.
- Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to company risk management policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- MBA or MSC willl be an added advantage
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale power infrastructure and energy generation projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and industry standards.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
