Job Responsibilities & Requirements
- As the Logistics Manager you will have oversight responsibility for all logistics activities within APMT Nigeria.
- You will be responsible for setting strategies that support APMT policy on inventory management and process efficiencies for the entities within APMT Nigeria.
- A key deliverable to optimise supply chain lead-time and costs.
Target-setting and Performance Management
- Responsible for cascading company goals as well as functional targets to direct reports across the entities and performance-manage in line with Company performance management guidelines
- Ensure standard work with internal functions – Finance, Warehouse & Asset Management Planning and external with parts Suppliers, for timely tracking of purchase orders, origin-side logistics, warehousing of orders and consolidation and on-time Supplier payments.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics activities with freight forwarders.
- Ensure preparation of regular reports on logistics performance, costs, and operational issues to management.
- Recommend improvements based on performance analysis.
- Oversight over open Purchase orders (PO) monthly reporting for all international purchases.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, while owning daily management of shipments to enhance overall supply chain performance.
Coordination and Planning
- Plan and coordinate logistics operations including shipping, transportation, and warehousing.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
- Schedule and track the movement of cargo from origins to destinations.
Communication and Documentation
- Put in place clear communication guidelines across all stakeholders – internal functions, Banks, Freight forwarders, Agents and Suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with foreign logistics standard operating procedures at the entity levels
- Maintain oversight over the preparation and processing of shipping documents, including Price verification system (PVS), Form M, bills of lading, PAAR and others.
- Ensure accurate records and documentation for all logistics activities.
Regulatory Standards, Stakeholder Relations & Escalation Management
- Ensure compliance with international, national, and local regulations related to logistics and transportation as well as Maersk guideline on third-party management
- Stay updated with changes in laws and regulations affecting imports into Nigeria.
- Maintain relations with regulators at Onne Freezone to ensure WACT’s free-zone benefits are realised.
- Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies in logistics operations.
- Investigate and mitigate delays, damage, or loss of goods.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent future issues.
Skills & Experience Requirements
Functional
- Must have at least three (3) years on similar role
- Possess advance knowledge of operating in a free-zone market
- Has advance knowledge and understanding of regulations governing import into Nigeria
- Has strong knowledge of international trade and international commercial terms
- Has above average knowledge of warehousing and inventory management
- Is a proven Supply chain capability
- Has strong time management skills, able to juggle between tasks and apply judgement in prioritising tasks
- Is apt at decision-making
- Possess a Supply chain certification or diploma – CSCP or CILT
- Has experience in people leadership
- Has good industry (maritime) and free-zone experience (added advantage)
